FLY SQUATTER

The constant buzzing companionship of the flies of memories...
Its time to break-up,
And break free.

Fly squatter in hand,
I try to beat the flies down,
And make them go lifeless.
They lie listless for a while...seemingly spiritless.
Only to bounce back with with a double-fold spring in their wings.
Their renewed and vigour-filled incessant buzzing reverberates in my mind and soul.

It's endless.
It's monotonous.
It will always be there(ever-so loyal)...
The fly squatter lies abandoned in a corner.
The verdict is lifelong slavery to the buzzing masters.

Flies will always remain flies
Flies never belong to one,
Flies never restrict to one,
Not even to the candies
Able to fuel their entire existance.

Flies desire more sweetness
Not to devour, but to taste,
Taste and discard
Leaving behind their foul sliva.

Flies are never born
Flies never dies
Only there existance is transferred.
They come, they sit and they fly,
Making room for their successors.

Flies are always there
And they pay us back too
Not in buzz but cacophony,
Resisting us to listen to anything else.

Don't kill a fly
Don't even think to,
Let it sit wherver it want to,
And when it leave to make room for its successor,
Make sure you have wiped its sliva with a handkerchief

A very good poem keep writing

nishaa said...

Anonymous..your poem doesn't deserve to be in the comments section...it's simply brilliant!...i loved the "acceptance sans resistance" stance of the last five lines...not to mention the subtle philosophical feel throughout...thank-you so much for your comment.

nishaa said...

Anand,thank-you so much for your comment...no,there is no underlying meaning to the post...it is simply about memories that haunt and hound and the abandoned struggle to outdo them!

nishaa said...

Muneer..thank-you very much for your comment...happy to know you liked the poem and i hope to keep writing.

Break-up from memories is not so easy, , atleast to
me...

"Forget it" is a kind of daily hymn, though...
But then bereft of memories what would a writer/poet do??

Yet, liked reading this, Nishaa

devika

Devika,thank-you very much for your comment..yes,i agree with you that without memories a poet would be bereft of his/her most precious and sensitising tool.. wonder if there is a way to have memories yet stop "feeling" them...i mean,a kind of numbness...

nishaa said...

Anirudh, thanks a lot for your comment..

Devika Jyothi said...

"numbness" isn't desirable i think, for a writer..but writing helps...

i always gain back my smile and joy writing them :)

Writing candidly -- of your own 'strong felt' feelings-- helps ---in becoming not numb--
but more receptive to life's trials, but without ruining oneself...thats my experience, Nishaa...

devika

You take a long break and then come back with such a BANG! It's so totally worth the wait, even though I'd personally like to read them more often. :)

I love your analogies, you are so good at this Nishaa!

A good piece of writing like flies buzz the flow of "memories" are unending. They are the energy boosters in our life.Without them our mind remains blank.Memories are personal records treasured in our hearts without them life is hollow.....

Hey SSQuo..feels good to know you liked what i wrote..thanks a lot for your supportive words..so encouraging..i honestly feel great after reading your comment girl!

hey vanda...thanks a lot for commenting!..i loved the lines you wrote about the flow of memories being unending..and them being personal records treasured in our hearts...lovely lines!

I agree with you that without memories life would become hollow and blank...but i also feel that it would be great if memories that give pain could be wiped out and the slate made clean!...i realise it is not possible to do so..but nevertheless wish it could be done!

thanks again vanda..love ya!

Wow, Anon, your poem is brilliant.

Nishaa, I love this post. I love how you use flies to represent those horrible buzzing memories that hang around and torment us at times. I know those memories well. Perhaps they have helped make me who I am, even a better writer, but there are some things memories I don't like to write about because they churn the mud of my soul too deep and are too painful. When those big bluebottles are around, I want to zap them with a big dose of fly killer spray. Take that, memories! Hah, don't bother me again. I watch them fly slower and slower until they collapse, legs kicking in the air.

Nice to see you back blogging Nishaa. :)

curious topic and Ill admit a mite confounding..

nishaa said...

Thank-you Avinash for your comment...those lines which u mentioned contain the gist of what i was trying to convey...that nothing seems to work against some memories!

Just came in check for new ones, Nishaa :)

Hope to see a new one, soon...I miss reading your comments...But, need to close down, dear

Hey Inkpot, thanks for your comment...such a pleasure reading your comments because you always give a whole new angle to what i have written...yes,you are so right about using the killer spray...the fly squatter seems too tame an object against some memories!

nishaa said...

Mahesh...thanks a lot for that comment!...so sweet of you da!...glad you liked it...

nishaa said...

Dude,thank-you for your comment..its confounding is it?i did write it in a rather chaotic state of mind...but like they say out of chaos comes order(sometimes atleast)...so i did find some semblance of order after having written it.

nishaa said...

Devika..i really miss commenting on your blog...i hope you will change your mind..i really hope so..

Devika Jyothi said...

I know Nishaa...But my decisions -- once I take it are often forever...unless God acts..

in this case, I sincerely feel -- God intervened with that decision to close it...seriously, it was badly affecting me -- workwise, mentally, physically :)

I hope you like them...though some of them are just posted for a movement sake :)

devika

Devika...i really enjoyed reading Coversation-2...i read and re-read it many times..its lovely.

Face to Face...i liked the fury in the ending lines and the resulting peace..

I Came Not To...though its a sad poem i liked the spirit of love that shines through by the end of it.

The poem For You Father was really touching...it cannot be commented on.

As always looking forward to reading more of your poems....

Oh thanks Nishaa...it was so kind and loving of you to say it all here, my dear,

Nice to know you enjoy reading them....I am posting frequently at Abstract Deduction..those are the shorter ones...and i notice my periodicity for long ones have increased.....but perhaps we are similar, I too write them only when they flow over me :)

thank you Nishaa...I am really looking forward to your poems too :)
